Winter water averaging continues through March

SAVE WATER THIS WINTER, SAVE MONEY NEXT YEAR - WATER USE AVERAGING BEGINS IN DECEMBER Boerne Water Utility customers should avoid landscape irrigation and reduce indoor water use as much as possible during the winter months, December through March. Conserving water indoors and especially outdoors during this timeframe can mean savings on the sewer portion of your Boerne utility bill next year. Residential sewer bills are based on the average water usage during December, January, February, and March each year. The new sewer rate is then effective April 2018 through March 2019. Similar to most water utilities across the country, the City of Boerne uses winter averaging to calculate your monthly fee for residential sewer services. Most water used during the winter is for indoor purposes and is processed at the wastewater treatment plant. Therefore the average water use amount determines the average monthly amount of water discharged through the sewer system. Winter averaging does not apply to residents or businesses that use septic systems. If you have any questions about your winter average, please call the Utilities Billing Office at 830-249-9511.
